The Shide (or Guangzhou Shide / Wei-Ya style) HL-2529 is a popular budget-friendly universal CRT replacement chassis designed for 25-inch to 29-inch arcade monitor tubes. It serves as a modern replacement option for repairing vintage arcade cabinet displays, though it often requires careful setup and technical modifications to run safely and correctly.

Limited product warranty. All chassis are tested and working before they are sent. 

We recommend getting the chassis professionally installed by an Electronics Trade qualified Arcade and Pinball Technition. Instalation by someone unqualified voids the warranty. 

If installing yourself please read the safety steps. CHECK TUBE OHMS, if the tube ohmage is incorrect the chassis will blow components and is not covered by warranty.

If installed by someone who is not an Electronics Trade qualified Arcade and Pinball Technition, warranty is void. Do so at your own risk.

CHECK THE INPUT VOLTAGE. This chassis is 110 volts ONLY. Use a 110 Volt isolation transformer only. Connecting to 240 volts will blow the chassis and this is not covered by warranty. 


Compatibility: Designed for 25"–29" CRT tubes, but you must verify yoke resistance beforehand (vertical windings must be 6–12 ohms, horizontal windings 1.3-2.2 ohms).
Power Safety: An isolation transformer is mandatory; running this chassis directly without one can cause severe component failure or burning resistors
Critical Yoke Resistance Requirements
A tube's model number does not guarantee it will work. You must use a multimeter to test the copper wire coils (the deflection yoke) on the back of the tube before plugging in the chassis:
  • Horizontal (H) Winding: Must read 1.3 to 2.2 Ohms (ideally around 1.5 to 1.9 Ohms).
  • Vertical (V) Winding: Must read 6.0 to 12.0 Ohms (ideally around 9 to 11 Ohms).

Warning: If your donor tube came from a modern "Slim" CRT TV, the horizontal resistance is often too low (under 1.0 Ohm). Connecting the HL-2529 to a slim tube or a high-impedance yoke will instantly burn out the chassis components.

Neck Pin Compatibility
The neck board included with the HL-2529 features a standard 9-pin socket configuration (CR-23 base layout). This is the most common neck configuration for large-size color CRTs made throughout the 1990s. It will not fit older 10-pin or 7-pin delta-gun neck configurations from the early 1980s

Known Arcade Drop-in Replacements (STILL DOUBLE CHECK YOUR TUBE OHMS BEFORE CHANGING):
If you are replacing a dead arcade monitor chassis while keeping the original arcade tube, the HL-2529frequently matches the specs of tubes originally driven by:
  • Wells Gardner K7000 series (25" variants)
  • Hantarex Polo 25" / 28"
  • Wei-Ya M2929 configurations

 


⚠️ Crucial Safety First

  •  Must be installed by an Arcade Electronics Technition. Installing this chassis is done at your own risk. 
  • Turn off and unplug the arcade cabinet or monitor power cord completely.
  • Never measure resistance on a live circuit. This will destroy your multimeter and can shock you.
  • You do not need to discharge the high-voltage anode cap just to measure yoke resistance, as long as you do not touch the suction cup or the red wire leading to the top of the tube.

Step-by-Step Yoke Measurement Guide to check Ohms before you buy this chassis.

Step 1: Disconnect the Yoke Harness

Follow the wires coming directly out of the copper yoke on the neck of the tube down to the main chassis circuit board. They usually terminate in a plastic 4-pin connector. Unplug this connector from the board so you are measuring only the tube, not the chassis components.

Step 2: Identify the Wire Pairs

The 4-pin connector almost always uses a standard colour scheme:

  • Horizontal (H) Coil: Typically the Red and Blue wires (usually on the outer pins of the plug).
  • Vertical (V) Coil: Typically the Yellow and Green (or Brown) wires (usually on the inner pins of the plug).

Step 3: Measure the Horizontal Resistance


  1. Turn your multimeter dial to the 200 Ω position.
  2. Touch one test lead to the Red wire terminal inside the plug, and the other lead to the Blue wire terminal.
  3. Wait for the numbers to settle.
  4. For the Shide HL-2529, this reading must be between 1.3 Ω and 2.2 Ω.

Step 4: Measure the Vertical Resistance


  1. Keep the multimeter on the 200 Ω setting.
  2. Touch one test lead to the Yellow wire terminal and the other to the Green/Brown wire terminal.
  3. For the Shide HL-2529, this reading must be between 6.0 Ω and 12.0 Ω.

Understanding Your Readings

Reading Found What It Means Action for Shide HL-2529
H: 1.5 Ω / V: 9.5 Ω Perfect match. Normal standard-res yoke. Safe to plug in and use.
H: 0.4 Ω to 0.8 Ω Low impedance. (Typical Nanao/Kortek tri-sync). STOP. Connecting this will instantly fry the Shide chassis.
H: 4.5 Ω+ / V: 40 Ω+ High impedance. (Typical old 1980s TV tube). STOP. The picture will be severely squished or non-existent.
Reading reads "OL" or "1" Open Loop. Broken wire or blown internal coil in the yoke. Tube is dead.
